Fugues: A Comedic Neuroscience Podcast

Who are you?

Gabe Berezin

What is your project?

Fugues is comedic neuroscience education dressed as a storytelling podcast. It’s like The Moth with neuroscience elevated by high-quality music and sound design. It’s Bill Nye meets Bill Burr.

The podcast is a proof of concept for a project I hope to grow as a brand. It’s the creation of storytelling content that continually identifies “influencers” that impact our thinking and behavior and makes them memorable.

This includes internal influencers like neuroscience, cognitive and social psychology, and physiology. External influencers include technology, politics, social media, entertainment, marketing, and culture.

The overarching goal is to promote more control and agency over our experience of the world.

Episode 1 (of 6) I’m working on for BSR - 3 universal things we can learn about human experience from one man’s dream visit with Brain Cox.

The episode is just under 30 minutes. But you’ll get the gist in the first 5 minutes!

I’m working on a short series of Substack posts to preview the release of this episode. See here, here, and here. They explore insights gained from dreams with celebrity cameos (Barack Obama, Kurt Cobain, and Joe Biden).

What will you ship at the end of 6 months?

Six episodes of Fugues. And using Tiktok/Instagram posts and Substack posts to promote the episodes and build audience.

Roadmap is here.
